In November 2011, popular recording artist Justin Bieber launched a new holiday album, “Under the Mistletoe.” Island Def Jam needed an exciting, customized way to promote his album online. Universal Music’s hottest team even had a fun idea for a web application: a site that would allow users to give any webpage Bieber fever while Justin crooned along to one of his new holiday songs. Oh, and most importantly, they needed it live in three weeks.
The Designing World team designed a custom web application based on the album release, complete with festive colors, social media functionality, powerful integrated analytics, and links to e-commerce options. Our savvy development team leveraged the latest HTML5 and JavaScript tricks to ensure it worked well for mobile and tablet devices, and tested heavily to ensure that the application wouldn’t buckle under the weight of a million viewers — because there’s nothing worse than an angry Bieber fan.
This playful app helped promote Justin’s album, kept the buzz going about his brand, and even spread a little holiday cheer.
